FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ON AVERAGE, A PERSON NEEDS A BODY SHOP ONCE EVERY 7-10 YEARS

Do I Need to get multiple estimates?

Simply put...No! Your insurance may request multiple estimates but this is not always necessary.  If you know what shop you would like to complete the repairs, they should be able to write the estimate and submit it directly to your insurance for you.

Some insurances have an adjuster examine the vehicle and this can be done either at the shop of your choice or they may offer to meet at your home or work to view the damages and write a preliminary estimate. If this happens, bring the estimate to the shop the we will contact the insurance company to continue with the process.

who gets to decide where my car gets fixed?

As the vehicle owner, you make the decision of which shop you want to repair your vehicle.  Some insurance companies have their preferred shops but that does not mean you HAVE to choose one of those shops for your repairs.  Most body shops will work with any insurance company whether they are a preferred shop or not.

who is responsible for the warranty of the repairs?

THE SHOP. This is why it is important that you select a repair facility that is properly trained and equipped to restore your vehicle to manufacturer guidelines.  You want to make sure that you trust the repair facility that is going to be repairing your vehicle. It is their responsibility to make sure the safety functions work properly and the integrity of your vehicle is the same should another accident occur.

what is the process for repairs?

  • Once the insurance company approves a preliminary estimate, the customer is notified and gives permission to begin the repair process.
  • When the shops gets the approval, the technicians begin the necessary disassembly of the vehicle to identify any hidden damage. If hidden damage is identified, the shop contacts the insurance company to inform them of the potential for additional charges.
  • If the insurance does not want to send an adjuster, the shop continues with the necessary repairs according to manufacturer repair procedures.
  • The shop and insurance company come to an agreement on the final cost of the repairs and payment is issued.
  • Customer pays their insurance deductible and picks up a vehicle that is safe to drive and looks as if it has never been involved in an accident.
